Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is IQ Media Suite?
A: IQ Media Suite an application package for Universal Home Media Centers. It
combines several functionalities that are typically fulfilled by dedicated consumer
electronics devices: a music jukebox, a personal video recorder, a DVD recorder,
a game console, a digital photo and video library. IQ Media Suite builds on the
functionalities of IQ Media Storage and IQ Media Player.
Q: Isn't what IQ Media is doing similar to Windows XP Media Center Edition?
A: In some sense, yes - IQ Media provides all the main entertainment functionality
that Media Center edition-based PCs provide. But unlike Windows-based PCs, IQ
Media-based systems are designed from ground-up to fit into a living room environment.
It includes simple "lean back" navigation and living-room oriented design. Besides,
systems based on IQ Media Suite are significantly cheaper than Windows XP-based
computers due to savings on software and lower hardware requirements for similar
levels of functionality.
Q: A few consumer electronics devices begin to combine several functionalities. How are you different?
A: Most consumer electronics manufacturers are based on inflexible proprietary
platforms. When they combine functionalities (e.g. a DVD recorder with a hard
drive), the system stays closed - with limited opportunities for software or
hardware upgrades or interoperability with other systems or home networks. Contrary
to that, IQ Media systems are based on open software and hardware technologies
and are designed for maximum interoperability and integration. Besides, maximum
use of standard computer components allows equipment manufacturers to achieve
much lower costs per unit compared to proprietary consumer electronics solutions.
Indeed, as of today, a multi-functionality IQ Media-based system may cost less
than an off-the-shelf DVD recorder only!
Q: I'm interested in this product. Can I download or buy this software to install myself?
A: Not currently. IQ Media Suite is a software package that equipment manufacturers
install in the boxes they sell to consumers. As a result, currently only OEM
software licenses are available. We are constantly evaluating viability of providing
consumers with downloadable versions of our products. Please check back later
to see if downloadable versions become available.
Q: Is IQ Media publicly traded? Can I invest in it?
A: IQ Media is a privately held company and is not soliciting open market investments.
